About The Villa

The seaside haven of warmth, tranquility and restoration

Unique Heritage & Recognition

Silk Cotton Villa, named after the majestic silk cotton (kapok) tree, is located near the historic Mafolie Great House—an estate built in 1795 from rare ‘blue bitch’ volcanic stone and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. While not the Great House itself, the villa draws inspiration from the same legacy of heritage and craftsmanship that defines the hillside. Surrounded by centuries of island history and overlooking Charlotte Amalie Harbor, Silk Cotton Villa has earned international recognition, having been featured in Modern Bride, House and Garden, Caribbean Travel & Life, Penthouse, and National Geographic as one of St. Thomas’s most distinctive villas.

About Us

You can’t get much more comfortable than the Villa Silk Cotton in St. Thomas.

“The Villa and view are stunning. From the pool and sun deck, there’s a 270-degree panorama: green hills floating on cobalt-blue water, where cruise ships depart as the cocktail hour begins. They’ll exit the harbor with the sun; twinkling lights fading into the dusk.

“Named for the silk cotton (kapok) tree next to the deck, the Villa blends privacy with comfort. Built of volcanic ‘blue bitch’ stone used in historic island buildings, it features wide living spaces opening onto the pool, which overlooks the harbor. Arches between the rooms and pool deck can be screened or shuttered, letting you shut out the world or embrace the breathtaking view at the touch of a button.

Endless Indoor and Outdoor Fun

Everything within your reach

You are minutes from the island’s best contrasts: duty‑free boutiques, Danish colonial streets, art galleries, waterfront dining, and rapid access to sailing charters, snorkel trips, dive sites, and turtle-filled bays. World‑class beaches—powdery sands and luminous turquoise water—are within easy reach, yet the elevation preserves a deep sense of privacy and calm above the activity below.

The hillside microclimate means cooler evenings, fewer insects, and perfect conditions for sunrise coffee or sunset cocktails “at cloud level.” Multi-level outdoor areas allow families and groups to spread out—yoga on one terrace, quiet reading or remote work on another—without sacrificing the shared drama of the view.

Daytime offers adventure and culture; evenings bring restorative seclusion as the harbor becomes a living tableau beneath you. The result is a rare equilibrium of energy and tranquility—an immersive Caribbean vantage point that feels indulgent, effortless, and unmistakably St. Thomas.
